The performance success of StormHandler pervious concrete is directly related to proper placement, compacting, finishing and curing. Prairie Material offers free hands-on workshops designed to bring you the latest information on the materials, tools and techniques for installing Prairie's StormHandler pervious concrete. The interactive sessions allow you to use the products and tools to develop new application skills that will help you get started right away.
Since the material and the techniques used for pervious concrete are so different, the NRMCA has created a multi-level certification program. Most pervious concrete jobs require at least a technician certification.
Workshop Structure
All half-day sessions start with a classroom overview of pervious concrete design and placement techniques that reference the NRMCA certification text. Afterwards, participants get the opportunity to practice placing, compacting and finishing StormHandler pervious concrete.
Topics and techniques covered include:
- What is pervious concrete
- Design considerations
- Understanding the look and feel of pervious mixes
- Proper placement, compaction and finishing techniques
- Curing requirements and techniques
If you would like to be certified as a NRMCA Pervious Concrete Technician, the Illinois Ready Mix Concrete Association (IRMCA) will offer a written exam at the end of demonstration section. IRMCA charges a $200.00 fee for the certification exam. You are not required to take the exam - the class and demonstration are free.
