Prairie Material and Prestige Concrete Products join industry leaders to promote the benefits of concrete.

CHICAGO, Illinois April, 2017 — The U.S. based ready mix concrete operations Votorantim Cimentos North America (VCNA) have announced that they will be partnering with Build with Strength, a coalition between the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and industry leaders across North America.

These businesses include Prairie Material, servicing Chicagoland area and Central IL, and Prestige Concrete Products, servicing Northern, Central, and Western Florida, along with sister company Canada Building Materials (CBM), based in Toronto.  VCNA's partnership with Build with Strength reflects the ready mixed concrete industry's increased focus on grassroots activism, with the aim of emphasizing concrete's safety benefits, versatility and long-term economic benefits to contractors and local communities.

VCNA is one of the region's largest and most successful providers of cement, ready mix concrete and aggregates construction materials.  From Chicago's Millennium Park and Wanda Vista tower (which will be the city's third tallest tower, once completed), to repairing Space X launch pads at the Kennedy Space Center Complex and building world class amusement parks in Florida, Prairie Material and Prestige Concrete Products have contributed to infrastructure improvements and new construction throughout their respective markets.

Aligning with Build with Strength, the company is helping to spread awareness regarding construction using ready mixed concrete.  "Our team is very proud of the work we've done over the years, and we've been very fortunate to operate in markets with such potential for growth", says Jim Munro, President and General Manager, North American Ready Mix.  "In addition to supporting our customers' day-to-day operations, the industry has a collective responsibility to advocate on behalf of concrete and its benefits.  That's where Build with Strength comes in.  We feel it's a great fit with our mission of making a long-term, positive impact and contributing to construction for future generations."

According to Build with Strength's website, Build with Strength is "a coalition of architects, builders, engineers, emergency services personnel, and policy makers" that considers awareness and education as its foremost objectives. Social media interaction, grassroots activism, and multi-media outreach are among Build with Strength's primary focuses.

With this partnership, Prairie Material & Prestige Concrete Products join a growing number of ready mix concrete producers and distributers who have aligned themselves to the Build with Strength campaign.  "We have an opportunity to educate the general public about the benefits of concrete and how it impacts where they live and work," says Munro.  "We have the utmost confidence in our product, and we want to ensure that the public has access to the information that can give them that confidence as well.  Build with Strength will help us achieve that."
