Thinking Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – and Prairie employees are working to support research, education and free services for women facing the disease.

Building on their success at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life this summer, Prairie Illinois team members hope to gather thousands more for the cause this month.

"The Prairie Pacers raised more than $6,300, making us the leading fundraiser at our local Relay this year," says Lee Ann Hulse. "We're looking forward to adding even more dollars through our activities this month."

Raffles of gift-filled baskets will take place every Friday. At month's end, one lucky raffle winner will receive a pair of Chicago Blackhawks tickets. Sales of pink t-shirts, sweatshirts and other merchandise will also support the effort.

Every Wednesday, Prairie Illinois team members are encouraged to wear pink – the color of awareness – reminding them that healthy living and early detection save lives.

"All of us need to encourage the women we love to eat well, stay active and get their yearly breast exams," Lee Ann says.
