Prairie recycles 100% of the concrete that comes back to our facilities keeping millions of pounds of re-useable materials out of landfills. Prairie has a number of recycling centers where we accept torn out or returned concrete.
Prairie also accepts uncontaminated soil and uncontaminated soil mixed with clean construction or demolition debris (CCDD) that complies with EPA regulations.
Recycled concrete makes a great base material and it's less expensive than natural stone or gravel. Recycled concrete is available at all our aggregate locations.
Prairie Materials accepts uncontaminated soil and uncontaminated soil mixed with clean construction or demolition debris (CCDD) that complies with EPA regulations at a number of special debris recycling locations. Prairie uses the CCDD as reclamation materials in its quarries.
CCDD is defined as broken concrete without protruding metal, reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), brick, stone, rock, and soil generated from construction activities. CCDD may not contain any refuse or organic material.
Any material we accept must be certified to be uncontaminated using the appropriate Illinois EPA form.
We will accept uncontaminated soil from a site that has not been used for commercial or industrial purposes, such as residential and agricultural soil.
Projects can only fall within this category if the site has NEVER been classified as Commercial or Industrial. Please keep in mind that many parks were former industrial sites and may not qualify for this classification.
These projects may be certified by either the site owner or operator or by a licensed professional engineer.
When soil is removed from a site that has been used for commercial or industrial purposes, certifications must be made by a licensed professional engineer. These projects include most roadway, utility, and right of way projects.

All jobs must be pre-approved – NO EXCEPTIONS! Please complete the CCDD Customer Information Form and appropriate Illinois EPA form and fax it to (708) 475-6185 for approval. Make sure you include all supporting documentation.
