From Wacker Drive to Your Drive

High-tech mixes we’ve formulated for IDOT, WDOT, INDOT and Chicago’s Wacker Drive have helped us develop paving solutions that work well for projects of every size.

This month we introduce 2 new mixes that draw on the full range of our paving experience. Contractors who’ve already tried them give these innovative products 2 thumbs up.

Diamond Drive® saves real time on the job

Earlier this season, the professionals at Martino Concrete in Woodridge, Illinois agreed to help us test our new premium driveway mix. About 400 yards and 20 driveways later, they’re using it for 80% of their residential projects, says owner John Lamorgese.

This exclusive mix – which features Tri-Tech triple protection to resist cracking and pop-outs – also repels moisture and chemicals from day one.

“The bonus is that the new surface doesn’t have to be power-washed and sealed after placement,” says Lamorgese. “Diamond Drive has the protection built right in, so it saves us real time – and it’s as easy to place as standard driveway mix.”

Good looks that last

Diamond Drive achieves the 4,500 psi compressive strength recommended by ACI for best performance in our climate. And thanks to Tri-Tech’s internal protection system, no special maintenance is required for the first full year of service. Sealer is recommended before the second winter and each year thereafter to help keep the driveway in ideal shape.

Lamorgese is so pleased with Diamond Drive’s performance that he’s also recommended it as a whitetopping solution for an upcoming parking lot rebuild. “We foresee using this product for many types of projects going forward,” he says.

Redi-Pave® satisfies the need for speed

Imagine a high-early-strength paving mix that reaches 4,000 psi within 3 days … 2 days … even 1 day if you and your customer need it.

Prairie’s Redi-Pave delivers strength on demand, enabling you to rebuild a commercial drive, loading dock or walkway today and open it to traffic tomorrow if you choose.

Nick Distasio of M & J Asphalt in Cicero, Illinois has been working with this new mix for the past few months and his customers love it. “We’ve used Redi-Pave for drive-thru lanes serving fast food restaurants, banks and other high-traffic businesses,” he says. “Owners are relieved to hear that their downtime can be as little as 24 hours. It costs a little more, but customers feel it’s well worth it, which gives us a tremendous competitive edge.”

Tested and standardized for top performance

In the past, when contractors asked for a high-early-strength paving mix, “the question was always: how high and how early?” says Gary Hall of Prairie’s quality control and technical sales team. “Redi-Pave standardizes the mixes, letting contractors select the level of performance based on the demands of the job.”

Redi-Pave’s blend of cementitious materials and accelerating admixtures varies according to the speed required. Each of the unique 3-day, 2-day and 1-day mixes has been rigorously tested and exceeds IDOT / INDOT / WDOT standards for high-early-strength paving.

“We’ve noticed that Redi-Pave is a Friday favorite,” says Prairie Marketing Manager Brad Huiner. “Contractors request it when they’re repairing a surface that can be closed off Saturday or Sunday but must reopen Monday.”
