Prairie Materials is committed to achieving the highest standards of health and safety for employees, customers, visitors, and the communities in which we work. Throughout all of Prairie’s operations, there is a commitment to reduce accidents and a clear focus on reducing lost time accident rates.
In addition to providing the mechanical and physical facilities necessary to create a safe and healthy work environment, Prairie has established a number of safety and health policies, programs, and processes that conform to industry best practices. In particular, our driver training and mentoring program is targeted at improving safety at the material yard, the construction site, and on the road.
All employees have a responsibility to follow the safety and health requirements of their job and to be conscientious about the health and safety of others. As a condition of employment, each employee must comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as company health and safety rules and procedures. All personnel are required to be aware of and follow customer job site safety requirements as well. We comply with OSHA standards by keeping Safety Data Sheets available for our employees and customers.
Prairie is actively developing a wide range of education and training, best practice sharing, and behavioral auditing initiatives to create a program to achieve our goal of no lost-time incidents.

Prairie Materials actively supports its employees’ health and wellness. On the job, we are continually improving the physical environment and work processes to reduce accidents and illness.
In early 2010, Prairie established a corporate-wide Wellness Program (download pdf) to create a work and personal environment that promotes healthy lifestyles, decreases the risk of disease, and enhances the quality of life. This program encourages all Prairie personnel and their families to strengthen their health and well-being through educational opportunities, wellness activities, and self-improvement. Prairie is currently developing a number of corporate and local initiatives, such as health and wellness evaluation programs and fitness center reimbursements, to support these goals.
