Prescription to Performance

Leader in performance concrete.

One of the major trends in the concrete industry is the shift from prescriptive specifications, where the specifier dictates some or all of the materials or their proportions, to a focus on the performance characteristics of the finished concrete for a specific application. The NRMCA’s Prescription to Performance (P2P) initiative is driving this shift.

By working closely with the owner, design team, and contractor, Prairie can develop and deliver a mix design that meets all functional requirements for a given project while also addressing the contractor’s constructability needs. This collaborative approach has enabled Prairie to produce some of the most innovative concrete mixes for demanding projects in the Midwest, including low-heat SCC mat pours up to 10 feet thick, mixes requiring specific modulus, high strength, and early set times, clog-free, pumpable flowing mixes for structures over 90 stories tall, 100-year pavement for arterial streets, and crack-resistant, minimal curl floors for super-flat automated warehouses and sports arenas.

Prairie’s expert team of lab personnel and Quality Control specialists provides our construction partners with the experience, expertise, and technologies to foster innovative products and construction methods, while also improving overall quality.

Our performance-based products and custom mixes offer:

  • Cost savings through fast-track construction methods and better use of labor resources
